Born on June 29, 1976, in Istanbul, Pınar Sharghi completed primary and secondary education in Istanbul. In 2000, she moved to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to pursue higher education and graduated from Near East University (NEU), Faculty of Maritime Studies, Department of Maritime Management and Administration, ranking first in both the faculty and the university.
Following her graduation in 2005, she began her academic career as a Research Assistant in the same faculty and was awarded a full scholarship to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the NEU Institute of Social Sciences. In 2009, she was appointed as a Lecturer in the Department of Maritime Management and Administration, where she continued her academic and teaching activities.
Between 2010 and 2013, she served as the Director of the NEU Maritime Vocational School, and concurrently, from 2011 to 2013, held the position of Deputy Director of the NEU International Office. During this period, she played an active role in coordinating the collaboration between the university’s Turkish representatives and the international unit, and in establishing an online institutional problem-solving system within the university structure.
In 2017, she successfully completed her Ph.D. in Business Administration, further advancing her academic qualifications and research focus in management and maritime education.
Currently, she serves as a Faculty Member at the University of Kyrenia, Faculty of Maritime Management and Administration. In addition to her teaching duties, she holds the positions of Faculty Coordinator and Coordinator of the Distance Education Center (UZEM), contributing to research, development, and implementation of distance learning practices within the university.
She is also an active member of the Strategic Planning Commission, where she participates in the preparation of self-assessment reports and the development of institutional strategic plans.
As of the 2024 academic year, she has been appointed as the Director of the University of Kyrenia Maritime Vocational School, continuing her leadership and contributions to maritime education and institutional development.
